Italy Trip – F I R E N Z E

Truth is, we had to go to Firenze (Florence) for a second time because, well… the first time we went… Let’s just say, all we did was have brunch. We didn’t really get to visit all the places and museums we had in mind. But boy did we have fun.

Ponte Vecchio

But first, Prosecco. Because Italy.

Riccardo, Vincenzo, Laura and I
Catedral de Santa María del Fiore
This was the view from the restaurant we had lunch.
I don’t remember the name of this restaurant, honestly, not our favorite. Almost three hours later, followed by a bottle of wine, we had the dreamiest conversation talking about our future lives together and all the scenarios of potentially moving to Italy and starting a life.
And after a lovely lunch, we headed back home.

DAY 2 IN FIRENZE

Because our first day in Firenze was so brief, we decided to go back for a second round and finally visited the glorious, the marvelous, THE DAVID.

When all was finished, it cannot be denied that this work has carried off the palm from all other statues, modern or ancient, Greek or Latin; no other artwork is equal to it in any respect, with such just proportion, beauty and excellence did Michelagnolo finish it”. Giorgio Vasari
I have to admit that seeing Michelangelo’s David, literally made my heart skip a beat, it took my breath away. I had studied it so intensely in religion class back in elementary school, that to actually see it in person, I felt this overwhelming feeling of admiration and profound respect. By far, the most majestic sculpture I have seen. Mind you, I had already been to Rome and don’t get me wrong, Rome is the capitol of like, everything! But this one.. it really had me. It’s special and nostalgic to me. There is something so imposing in the simplicity of this monumental piece of art. It really left me in utter awe.
Cafecito stop.
what a beautiful sunset this was!
I mean… the colors, the company, the simplicity, the love I felt in that picture. You know those moments of sudden happiness you get just because? This little gut feeling? Sometimes they feel like butterflies? You know? Well yeah, I was feeling that right there in that moment.

But nothing like mother nature’s masterpieces. THAT is my ultimate favorite.

With love always,

Angela
