Monday’s Story Time| What sex and the city taught me

I was born in 1992, so I obviously was not watching Sex and the City when it was airing. I do, however, remember my mom watching it religiously. It did catch my attention since then, specially Carrie. She was like  goddess to me.

I then was in my Senior year of high school and this was way back when Blockbusters still exited. I would go every other day to rent out each season, over and over and over again. I literally watched all 6 seasons endless amounts of time. They not only inspired me to live my life fully but to always dress my best. If you ask me, what are some of my life mottos? “What would Carrie Bradshaw do?”.

So here are 6 lessons Sex and the City taught me.

  1. Wear your clothes with confidence and feel comfortable in your own skin. Let’s be honest! There were some outfits on this show that looked completely ridiculous and some of those clothes we wouldn’t even think of wearing. But these 4 ladies somehow managed to walk the streets of NYC with so much confidence and glamour. They managed to make anything they wore, look absolutely fabulous!
  2. Seeing your money hanging in your closet, is totally worth it! Ok, I know this is a total controversial statement for many of you. As for me, completely true. I swear I get no greater pleasure, then in seeing my money in my shoes, purses, clothes… come on. I can’t be the only one, right?
  3. Vogue will fill you up more than food. There were a couple of years in life where I struggled a lot financially and sometimes didn’t have enough money to buy both magazines and food. I swear to you, buying a Vogue Magazine was more than I actually needed to feel full. Now, with the internet we can just read Vogue online. Fashion will fill me up more than Chipotle ever will.
  4. Our girlfriends are our soulmates. These four ladies taught me to value my friendships and to simply love them with all their flaws and imperfections.
  5. Boys come and go. At the time that I was watching Sex and the City all day errday, I was actually in the process of breaking up with a really toxic relationship. But for some reason I just couldn’t do it. Thanks to my 4 gals, they taught me that there were plenty of men in this world and they gave my the motivation and inspiration to end it and keep searching for “the one”. They helped me get over my lousy relationship.6. Fall in love with yourself first & enjoy being single! THIS right here is my most valued lesson of all. They taught me to fall in love with myself first and its was the best decision I ever made in my life.

This one is to all my girls 😉
