Hey ladies and gents,
So this one subject truly excites the shit out of me. I love skin care…Well who isn’t now a days with all the options and alternatives we have been given all over the internet? Even my boyfriend has become a total skin care routine junkie. I am so exited to share with you guys what has FINALLY worked for me. I have reduced my skin routine significantly and it makes me very happy to not have to depend on so many products like I used to. Saving me time and money 😉
Please take this advice with a grain of salt. I think it’s about getting to know your skin and to acknowledge that we are all just so different. What works for me might not work for you at all.
First and foremost, good skin starts with good nutrition. A healthy diet. Period. What you put into your body will be reflected on your skin. Ever wonder why after a night out of drinking and eating refined sugars you break out the next day? A healthy and balanced diet will do wonders for your skin. But it does not end there. I think it’s also very important to determine what foods could be triggering your skin that you might not even be aware of. That’s why doing test trials and being very attentive to the foods you consume on a daily basis is so crucial in determining what foods could be affecting you negatively. Keeping a journal is one great way to stay on track and finding out what foods are good for you and which ones are harming you.
So here we go. I have reduced my beauty routine to:
- I don’t clean my face anymore with any sort of cleanser or soap. All I use is the Bioderma micellar water with organic cotton pads to clean my face and remove my makeup. Followed by a good wash with cold water a few times. This might not be the best advice ever but hey, it’s what’s working for me.
- Moisturize and moisturize. A good creamy cream. I alternate between two products, depending on what I feel would be more beneficial for me that day. I use the Juice beauty antioxidant moisturizer and the Skinfix .
- Serum. Which I apply only in the morning before my sunscreen. I use the Ronas serum. They sell it on amazon and other alternative websites.
- Sunscreen. Which I apply when I am wearing no makeup. That’s just how I prefer it. I know everyone suggest to wear sunscreen everyday all day but I rather not. I’ve been using this sunscreen for over a year and I absoutely love it. I use ISDIN fusion water. They sell it all over Latin America and Europe so it is easy to find.
- I use Tata Harper’s Floral Essence through the day to refresh the skin. It’s amazing and one of my favorite skin products ever.
Now let me just talk a little about moisturizing. I used to be obsessed with gels and oil free everything. I was terrified of keeping my skin moist for some reason and I would over cleanse my skin. There was no way I would ever get near a thick moisturizer, let alone any sort of facial oil. I’ve been so oily my entire life and with all the breakouts I thought keeping my skin as dry as possible was the way to go. Boy was a wrong. What was I even thinking!
Now, I am queen moisturizer. I actually cannot even stand my skin when it has no cream on it. So now I moisturize my skin every morning and night. I make sure my entire face is fully hydrated and I always grab a little more and put some under my eyes and crows feet. I learned this little trick from my dear friend Laura Rosa. It’s actually just as effective. I’ve stopped buying eye creams, which by the way are extremely overpriced.
Skin shouldn’t be that complicated. Drink water, eat well, moisturize with quality products and wear sunscreen if you’re being exposed to intense sunlight.
Everything I have shared on here with you is simply what has worked for me and maybe it will work for you.
Lesson here, like everything else, less is more. Simplicity is always the answer. Don’t over do it.
