A DAY IN: Bologna, Italy

Waking up in Bologna exceeds all my expectations of what I ever wanted a perfect morning to be like. Quiet first hours of your day, breathing through clean air, closing your eyes as you smell the pomegranates hanging on the trees, a delicious fresh breeze warm enough to make you step outside and enjoy your morning coffee. And must I add, this entire event is even better when spent with the one you love.

We skipped breakfast and headed straight into lunch time around 2:00 PM. We had a delicious Italian seafood risotto made by Riccardo’s mom. Absolutely delicious! Nothing like homemade Italian food, that’s for sure. We had sparkling wine to go along with our meal, had a nice little talk, then concluded with a delicious espresso made at home. That’s one thing I find so devine about the Italian culture, each meal is like a whole journey, an entire experience. To truly enjoy the food you are eating.

The lemons in Italy are something else. And a curious thing about me, I love eating the entire lemon, lemon peel and all.

We then took a “siesta” or nap, before heading out. On this gorgeous day we decided to go rock climbing! What an experience.

Riccardo’s friends have become my friends and they are probably one of the coolest, realest people I have ever met.
I will forever remember this day.
What a magical day. Really. No wonder I got that word tattooed on my leg.

with love always,

Angela
